Culmination of the Yak-15 family which inherited the Yak-3's general design, the Yak-23 was the last Soviet aircraft to use the "redan" scheme and the straight wing. Of full metal design, it was equipped with a pressurized cabin and an ejection seat. This outstandingly agile fighter served in USSR, Poland, Hungary, Albania, Bulgaria and Czechoslovakia. Total of 313 were built until 1950 at the Tbilisi plant, including three 2-seat trainer versions, of which only one aircraft remains.
